Completing an internship during your time at Miami University allows you to apply your classroom learning to hands-on job experiences. Internships are key experiential learning opportunities that will help you clarify your personal, professional, and academic goals.

Scholarships

There are a number of both merit-based and need-based scholarship and award opportunities at the College of Arts and Science (CAS) for qualified students. In addition to scholarships, there are also scholar programs and fellowships which can be explored here.

Scholarships Offered by the Mallory-Willson Center

Carman Bahr Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more undergraduate students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Zoology who demonstrate both academic merit and financial need. It is the express intention of the donor that preference be given to students who plan to attend medical school upon graduation.

Dr. Richard and Lorry Blath Healthcare Scholarship

This shall be awarded to one or more outstanding undergraduate students demonstrating academic merit and financial need entering their senior year who intend to enter medical school after graduation. In addition this student or students will be chosen based on their university, school, and community involvement.

Roger and Marilyn Friedman Family Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more undergraduate senior(s) demonstrating academic merit and planning to attend The Ohio State University Medical School upon graduation from Miami University.

Paul R. Gaylord Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who is doing very well at Miami and plans to pursue a career in dentistry. The scholarship is for ~$1,000. If you are currently a sophomore or junior, have a major that is in the College of Arts and Science, have achieved an overall GPA and science GPA of 3.20 or higher, and have been involved in campus and community activities, then you are strongly encouraged to apply.

Dr. Paul Gehring and Dr. Gena Gray Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more undergraduate student(s) during their junior year demonstrating academic merit and/or financial need and who are committed to a career on the patient-care side of the healthcare industry. The scholarship may be renewed in the recipient(s)' senior year provided the student continues to maintain academic eligibility.

Dr. Richard and Marcia Hirsh Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more undergraduate student(s) demonstrating financial need and who intends to attend medical or dental school upon graduation from Miami University.

  • Undergraduate Summer Scholars Program (USS)
    A nine-week summer program, USS enables sophomores and juniors to do research or other creative activities in the summer with the supervision of an individual faculty mentor.
  • Howard Hughes Summer Internships (HHSI)
    These 10-week science-focused internships, administered by the Departments of Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry, and Microbiology, provide an extended summer research opportunity under the supervision of an individual faculty mentor.
