When is Miami PRIME 2020?

Miami PRIME will be offered online this summer, during the pre-announced dates, May 26 – June 19. This change will eliminate any uncertainty regarding the status of the program for you and your families, as you plan your summer.

Your Miami PRIME team stands ready to deliver the exceptional business educational experience that you expect and deserve from your Farmer School of Business faculty members, when enrolling in Miami PRIME.  All of the hallmark features of Miami PRIME including the client project, individual resume consultations, mock interviews, and networking events with real employers are a part of the online program.  Additionally, we hope that a reduction in the program fee to $100 (from $200) and any savings on housing, makes the program more affordable. We enthusiastically look forward to engaging with you in furthering your business education with Miami PRIME this summer.

Here are the actions that you need to take with the associated deadlines based upon your current status in the application system:

 Accepted (but not committed) Students

  • If you wish to commit to the program, follow the instructions to commit to the program in your acceptance email including the payment of the $100 program fee by Wednesday, April 15. We will withdraw the application of any accepted, but not committed, students after that deadline.
  • If you do not intend to participate in the program, please email Mike Smith (smithmj6@miamioh.edu) to withdraw your application.

Committed students

  • If you remain committed to the program,no action is necessary. On April 15, we will begin to process refunds of $100 of the $200 program fee that you already paid.
  • If you have changed your mind and no longer wish to participate in the program, please email Mike Smith (smithmj6@miamioh.edu) to withdraw your application. Full refunds of the $200 program fee are available prior to the April 15 deadline.

Note: All university housing contracts are in the process of being cancelled, and refunds will be issued if you already paid.

Finally, if you know of any other students who might be interested in Miami PRIME, we have a few spots remaining and have extended the deadline to April 15. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I along with the faculty of the Farmer School of Business look forward to meeting all of you this summer in cyberspace!

What is Miami PRIME?

Miami’s Professional Institute for Management Education (PRIME) is a four-week, in-residence summer program designed to introduce non-business majors to fundamental concepts in business. Taught by faculty in the nationally-ranked Farmer School of Business, PRIME students will develop an integrated knowledge of how business works, strengthen their networking and career search skills, and apply these new skills while working on a project for a business client.

Upon completion, students will have earned 9 credit hours, a Thematic Sequence in Business (for Miami students), as well as the skills and confidence to be successful in your chosen field. This program has been designed for all liberal arts, education, science, and engineering students who do not have business foundation courses.

We know you are passionate about your field of study. Miami PRIME will combine that passion with the practical business skills needed to round out your college experience and prepare you for whatever career you choose.
