Business Minor
Description
The Business Minor is designed for non-business students who seek to develop a foundational understanding of business concepts to enhance their career readiness, entrepreneurial mindset, and interdisciplinary problem-solving skills. This minor serves students from diverse academic backgrounds who recognize the value of business acumen in helping them achieve their professional goals. Whether they aspire to start their own ventures, work in corporate or nonprofit settings, or gain financial literacy and leadership skills, this minor provides practical knowledge that complements their primary field of study.
Minor Information
- 15 credit hours
- Open to non-business majors only
- Not open to students in the BS in Commerce degree
- You must have a 2.00 GPA for all courses in the minor
- This minor was formerly called the General Business minor
- Due to the potential significant overlap in coursework, students who pursue the Business Minor will be restricted from also pursuing the Management minor
- Discuss any possible course substitutions with the minor advisor
- FSB Study Abroad programs may satisfy 6 credit hours of requirements for the Business Minor

- ESP 201 requires ESP 101 as a prerequisite or corequisite
- Students in the minor who wish to take MGT 295 must do so during the summer or winter terms

Business Specializations
Select three of the following:
- ACC 221 (3) - Introduction to Financial Accounting
- or ACC 222 (3) - Introduction to Managerial Accounting
- BLS 342 (3) - Legal Environment of Business
- FIN 301 (3) - Introduction to Business Finance
- ISA 211 (3) - Information Technology and Data Driven Decision Making in Business
- or ISA 235 (3) -Information Technology and the Intelligent Enterprise
