Business in the Global Market
Description
The Business in the Global Market Certificate Program is designed to better prepare students for entry into an increasingly globalized workplace. The program develops an understanding of the culture and customs of a selected region of the world through language study, study abroad experience and associated coursework. Participants will develop critical thinking and contextual skills through study and seeing first-hand how various geographic regions contribute to the global economy. The program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business and who have a strong interest in working abroad.
Certificate Information
- 14 credit hours
- Open to all students
- A 2.0 cumulative GPA is required
- If completing an internship for your Overseas Experience, you must enroll in a 1-credit internship course
- Refer to the 2025-2026 General Bulletin for a list of internationally focused electives to choose from to complete the cultural coursework
- Students must complete 3 credit hours for the language requirement; if they test into a course beyond 202, they must complete that course to fulfill the language requirement
- American Sign Language courses offered through the College of Arts and Science may not be used to fulfill this requirement
- Refer to the 2025-2026 General Bulletin for course pre-and/or co-requisite requirements
- The Business in the Global Market Certificate is an excellent complement to the International Business Minor

- Complete foreign language through the 202-level.
- Complete foreign language through the 202-level.
- Overseas Experience (1)
- Semester study abroad program
- FSB faculty-led study abroad program
- In person, credit-bearing internship
- Cultural Coursework
- BUS 241 (1)
- Select nine credits of internationally focused electives (at least one must be a Farmer School of Business course)
