Business in the Global Market

Description

The Business in the Global Market Certificate Program is designed to better prepare students for entry into an increasingly globalized workplace. The program develops an understanding of the culture and customs of a selected region of the world through language study, study abroad experience and associated coursework. Participants will develop critical thinking and contextual skills through study and seeing first-hand how various geographic regions contribute to the global economy. The program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business and who have a strong interest in working abroad.

Certificate Information

  • Open to all students
  • Student may pursue a self-designed thematic sequence for the Cultural Experience
    • This must be pre-approved by the Office of Liberal Education and the certificate program advisor
  • A 2.0 cumulative GPA is required
  • If completing an internship for your Overseas Experience, you must enroll in a 1-credit internship course
  • BUS 241 and internationally-focused business elective must be taken simultaneously
  • Refer to the 2024-2025 General Bulletin for course pre- and/or co-requisite information

Program Requirements

  • Language
    • Complete one of the folowing languages through the 202-level:
      • Chinese
      • Arabic
      • Japanese
      • Korean
      • French
      • Spanish
      • Italian
      • Russian
      • German
  • Oversears Experience
    • Choose one of the following:
      • Semester of study abroad program
      • FSB faculty-led international program
      • In-person, credit-bearing internship
  • Cultural Coursework
    • BUS 241 (1) - Business in the Global Market
    • Select three internationally focused electives (at least one must be a business course)
