Transportation Delivery Specialist

General Function

Assists in inventory control by performing tasks related to moving and delivering supplies, equipment, and other materials

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities—Essential Functions

• Operates a variety of vehicles including semi-tractor and straight truck to move and/or deliver furniture, supplies, equipment, and other materials to appropriate location on campus.
• Assists in loading and unloading materials to and from delivery vehicle; hauls salt for use on highway.
• Assists in overseeing student workers; assigns tasks; monitors performance.
• Performs various tasks including driving shuttle runs and assisting in setting up for football games and special events.

Reporting Relationships

Direction Received: Reports to Transportation Supervisor

Direction Given: Functional guidance of a group of student employees working on an ongoing basis

Minimum Requirements

Requires six months of training beyond high school in driving large vehicles and one year of trucking experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires valid driver's license and commercial driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Knowledge of moving procedures
• Ability to drive semis and straight trucks
• Knowledge of University campus.

Working Conditions

Frequent walking, climbing, and operating machinery. Often carries heavy material weighing over 50 pounds.
