Before arriving at Miami, please complete all pre-arrival tasks on this checklist. These steps will help you prepare for orientation, registration, and starting your studies.
If your primary campus is in Oxford, Ohio? Please visit Information for Oxford Campus Students.
Visit the Miami Regionals Resources to learn more about what our campuses have to offer you.
IMPORTANT: Housing accommodations should be arranged before arrival. The move-in date should be confirmed with your property manager.
Miami University Regionals' Hamilton and Middletown campuses are commuter campuses, meaning they do not have dormitories or student housing on campus. Students are responsible for arranging their own housing, dining, and transportation accommodations.
We suggest you visit the Off-Campus Outreach website before you begin your off-campus housing search.
Off-Campus Outreach aims to support and engage off-campus students and commuters and build on relationships in the community. They are committed to helping students understand their rights and responsibilities as tenants, neighbors, and community members; and working with students, permanent residents, local landlords, and city officials to promote a positive partnership in keeping Oxford a safe, engaging, beautiful place to live and offer a broad range of resources, programs, and support.
Students from all over the world attend Miami University, which is located in the Midwest of the United States. We have three campus locations:
Miami University campuses are located in southwest Ohio approximately one hour from Cincinnati or Dayton. Most students fly into Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). There are many ways to get to campus: rental cars, Uber & Lyft, and other airport transportation services. For more help in planning your arrival to campus, please visit Enjoy Oxford’s transportation tips page.
Depending on traffic, it will take anywhere from 50-75 minutes to travel from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to Miami Hamilton or Miami Middletown (40-50 miles).
Please be prepared to spend around $100 to travel from the Cincinnati/North Kentucky International Airport with a taxi or other private transportation company. You are expected to tip your driver 10-20%. You should tip more if they helped you load and unload your luggage.
Additionally, you will want to take a look at the Miami University - Regional campus maps in order to find your way around.
Miami University has a variety of options for dining choices. Please see Dining at the Regionals for more information.
Miami University Regionals are commuter campuses, which means you will want to arrange transportation from your home to campus. For moments when you need additional transportation, several options are available.
The most common form of transportation that students use to navigate between Miami University campuses is the Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) buses. Please note that the availability for each bus route changes throughout the year and depends greatly on when classes are in session.
You can also apply for a driver’s license and buy a car to drive to campus. Please see driving regulations and safety. There is student parking available at the Regional campuses.
Miami University Regionals Office of Student Disability Services (SDS) provides accommodations and access to students with documented disabilities in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as amended. SDS is passionate about fostering an inclusive and equitable experience for Miami students with disabilities. We partner with disabled students and campus departments to develop individualized access plans, provide training opportunities, and implement strategic initiatives to promote disability as a form of diversity. See the MCSDS webpage for information on how to request accommodations.
