Paper by 3 FSB students, professor named best student paper at MWAIS conference
A research paper that grew out of a class project was named the best student paper at the recent Midwest Association of Information Systems (MWAIS) conference.
The paper, "IT Governance Framework for the Internet of Medical Things in the Healthcare Industry," by Zachary Roemer, Robert Sumerauer, Emma Sundquist, and mentor Dr. Jeffrey Merhout, "analyzes the risks of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) systems and develops an IT governance framework corresponding to these risks."
The paper was the result of a class project in a spring 2024 ISA 305 class, the second year in a row that a student or team took their project and converted it into a conference publication.
Sumerauer graduated in 2025 with a degree in supply chain management and operations, while Sundquist and Roemer earned cybersecurity management degrees in 2025.
